Premiered at the Flanders Festival Ghent / Listen to the Lamb! event during the Van Eyck Year 2020.
Inspired by the enigmatic and Byzantine atmosphere of the central panel ‘God Almighty enthroned’ of Jan Van Eyck’s world-famous painting “Adoration of the Mystic Lamb”,
Composer Jean Delouvroy explores the timeless and universal dimension of rituals and mysticism.
A haunting, extra-sensory experience, full of sound and music, images and dance.
Commissioned and performed by members of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen.

Soundscape/Installation. (16′30”)

The core cell of “Darwin Nuclear Species” is a short electronic sound similar to that of a Geiger counter. After complex digital manipulation, filtering and editing a 16 min “species like” soundscape emerged. At the same moment, by coincidence, the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth took place. The entire composition can be played as a loop for the performances.
